Walter Alan Miller

Walter Alan Miller, 74, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024 while surrounded by his wife
and sons. Walt was born on January 3, 1950 to John A. Miller and Helen “Jean” (Comer)
Miller in Peru, Indiana. He was a 1968 graduate of Peru High School and a 1970 graduate
of the Ray Vogue School of Photography in Chicago, IL. On June 27, 1971, he married the
love of his life, Carol (Patterson) Miller. They had three children, Matthew Miller of Peru,
Timothy Miller of Brownsburg, and Daniel Miller of Muncie.

Walt pursued photojournalism for a time with the Peru Daily Tribune, but spent a majority of
his working career as an industrial electrician and ultimately retired from the Ford Meter Box
Company of Wabash in 2016. Walt loved photography, camping, crossword puzzles, and spending time with his family.
He also enjoyed volunteering for the Circus Parade, 4-H Fair activities, and animal rescue
events. His interests were vast and his knowledge was bountiful. He had a heart of gold and
would help anyone in need. Walt was a friend to many and never met a stranger.  His
children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild were his joy.

He was preceded in death by his mother Helen “Jean”, father John, and granddaughter
Corinna Miller. He is survived by his beloved wife Carol of 52 years; brother William “Bill”
Miller; sister Janet “Kay” Caylor; children: Matthew Miller, Timothy (Katie) Miller, and Daniel
(Staci) Miller; grandchildren: Caleb Miller, Mackenzie Miller, Makayla Miller, Chloe Miller,
Kyleigh Miller, Claire Miller, Samuel Miller, Emily Miller, Emma Miller, Hailey Miller, Blake
Miller; and one great-grandson, Kane Plummer. Walt is also survived by several nephews,
nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, and his napping buddy, Bentley the Yorkie.

Join us as we celebrate the wonderful life of Walt. A loving husband, father, pawpaw, great-
grandpa and friend to many. We will be gathering to share some of our favorite memories
and stories and to remember a wonderful man who is greatly missed by all.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Riverview Funeral Home of Peru. Visitation will be
held on Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. Services will be at 12:00 p.m., Monday, May 6, 2024 at Riverview Funeral Home with burial at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Peru, IN, officiated by the Reverend J. Robert Clark.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memoriam to Peru Animal Care & Control, the
Miami County Animal Shelter, or Peru Circus.
