Steve Allen Swango, 59, of Peru passed away on Friday August 2nd , 2024, in his Peru
home, blissfully in his sleep.
Steve was born on June 19, 1965, to the late Joe and Clara Swango. He was born and
raised in the Peru area. He worked for Woodcrest Manufacturing for more than twenty years and did
handyman work for the remainder of his time here on earth.
Steve was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandpa, uncle, and friend. He was married
to Rebecca Swango. Steve was the nicest man you every hoped to meet and would have given you the shirt
off his back if he thought it would help you.
He was a people person and always made friends wherever he went. He
was a self-proclaimed motorhead and loved all cars, especially classic cars and hot wheels.
Steve was a wheeler and dealer, especially when you needed help with something, he was
always trying to conjure up a deal. He was also an avid lover of animals, especially dogs,
and leaves behind his faithful little dog, Courage.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Swango, sons; Jordan Prater and his wife
Tonya Prater, of Peru, and Colin Sherrill, of Peru, grandchild; Zed.
A celebration of life will be held on August 30, 2024, visitation will be from 3:00-5:00 p.m.
at Riverview Funeral Home, 421 W. Canal St., Peru, Indiana 46970. A memorial service will follow with
ordained minister, Zach Grimes, will officiate.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Riverview Funeral Home. Family and friends may
come and celebrate this wonderful life with us.
