Richard L. “Dick” Ramey, 82, of Peru passed away at 12:04 a.m., Friday, May 13, 2022, at Marion General Hospital.

Born on May 10, 1940, in Elwood, he was the son of the late John and Gertrude (Bradley) Ramey.

Dick retired from General Tire (Gen Corp) in 2000 in Marion after 35 years, then after retirement he worked at Peru Community Schools for several years.

He attended Zion Chapel Church in Peru. Dick enjoyed spending time with all his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed Westerns, his moped, his golfcart, car shows and loved convertibles. He loved working on cars and often shared his talent helping others with their auto repairs. He had a special interest in his 1935 Chevy that had been in his family for several generations. He was close to his siblings, and he had a special love for his nieces and nephews. He always looked forward to family reunions in North Vernon and Anderson, IN.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara “Faye” Ramey of Peru, daughters, Beckie Ambrose (Rex) and Beverley Ramey all of Peru, brothers, Larry Ramey of Muncie and Gary Ramey (Karen) of Anderson, sister, Beverly Holder (Ralph) of Alexandria, grandchildren, Shalayna Correll (Scott) of Peru, Andre Ambrose (Vicki) of Peru, Johnna Landwehr (Zach) of Cicero and Madison Harp (Mayson Bammerlin) of Peru and great grandchildren, Kyannah, Elijah, Moriah & Alliyah Correll, Treson & Azalea Ambrose and Mayci Bammerlin.

He was also preceded in death by brothers, James (Barbara) Ramey and John (Jean) Ramey, sisters, Sherra (Phil) Murray, Delores (Meredith) Beeman, Mara Kay Ramey, and sister-in-law, Marilyn Ramey.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Zion Chapel Church, 915 S. Broadway, Peru, with Pastor Rod Correll officiating.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at Zion Chapel Church.
