Lenard “Dutch” Rasmussen, 92, of Peru passed away at 8:50 a.m., Monday, April 25, 2022 at home surrounded by family.
Born on May 24, 1929 in Peru, he was the son of the late August and Dorothy (Schmidt) Rasmussen.
Dutch worked the rails for many years retiring as a conductor for the C&O railroad and Amtrak. He also owned and operated Rasmussen Electrical Service.
Dutch was a talented photographer as well, many of his pictures can be found in businesses around Peru.
He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1950 to 1952 stationed aboard the USS Tarawa and the USS Wisconsin.
Dutch is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jo Ann Rasmussen, his daughter, Terri (Mike) Kay, grandson, Bryan (Willa) Kay, granddaughter, Sara (Adam) Posorske, great grandchildren, Annabel, Lenny, and Wally. He is also survived by his loyal companion (the neighbors dog), Quinn.
Dutch cherished each and every member of his family and loved his numerous pets.
There will be a Memorial Gathering of family and friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Riverview Funeral Home, 421 W. Canal St., Peru.
