Kendall Paul Vaughn passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at
Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne at the age of 44 with his wife and
sister by his side.
He was born May 6, 1978 to Kevan Vaughn and Cheri (Welch) Sorenson. He
was a proud member of the United States Army serving in the 1st
Battalion 293d Infantry 76th Infantry BDE, “Charlie Rock” and 2D
Battalion 54th Infantry “Echo Company” and as an Army Ranger at Ft.
Lewis. His National Guard unit was the first unit activated for war
since Korea. He served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation
Enduring Freedom. You could always find him in the garage working on
his car or hanging out with the guys and his boys. He never missed the
opportunity to go shooting at the range. One of his favorite places to
be was at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He never missed the
Indianapolis 500 unless he was deployed. He was united in marriage to
Jill Yarbrough on October 27, 2003. She survives at home in Peru. He
was preceded in death by his father, Robert Sorenson, father-in-law,
James Yarbrough, grandparents, Shirley and Paul “Bud” Vaughn and
grandfather, Dean Goodbred.
Kendall leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Jill and their five
sons: Dominick, Ethan, Landyn, Jaxton and Micah all of Peru, IN; his
mother, Cheri(Kyle) Sorenson of Kokomo, IN; father, Kevan (Jackie)
Vaughn of Herrin, IL; grandmother, Phyllis Goodbred of Decatur, IL;
mother-in-law, Diana(Ray) Yarbrough of Speedway, IN; sisters,
Amy(Anthony) Vaughn of Franklin, IN; Andrea(Chris) Egan of Washington
D.C. and Selena (James) Murphy of Mexico, IN; sister in law, Jennifer
Yarbrough of Peru; nieces and a nephews: Alexis, Madisyn, Dillon,
Livian, Kylie, Caleb, Delaney, Willow, James, John, and Margaret; and
a host of many other relatives, Military brothers, OTE Motorsports Car
Club brothers, and friends who will miss him dearly. Kendall will be
greatly missed by Titan, his beloved Mastiff, who was always by his
side.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 3 P.M. to 8
P.M. at Riverview Funeral Home in Peru. Funeral services will be held
Friday, February 24, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. at Riverview Funeral Home. A
graveside service with full military rites will be held at the Marion
National Cemetery at 1:00 P.M. in Marion, IN. In lieu of flowers,
donations can be made to the Vaughn family for future expenses for the
