Judith Ann "Ryan" Acord

October 15, 1942 — April 5, 2024

Peru

Judith Ann Acord of Peru, Indiana, passed peacefully in her sleep early Friday, April 5, of natural causes, surrounded by her loving family. She was 81. She was born to Ralph and Eula Ryan in Kokomo, IN, on October 15, 1942, and married the love of her life, Norman Lee Acord, on December 31, 1958.

Judy enjoyed many hobbies and passions. She was talented at crafts, interior design, gardening, and sewing clothes for her family. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, ballroom dancing and bowling. She worked at Delco Electronics from 1961 to 1978, then joined her husband in a variety of businesses.

She was devoted to her husband and was never happier than when playing with babies. She was blessed with three granddaughters, Charlotte Hall of Walton, Leigha (Joshua) Murphy-Howard of Kokomo, and KyAnne Adkins of Peru, as well as eight great-grandchildren, Braydon, Dalton and Kelsey Lowe, and Brody and Mallory Murphy, Fletcher Howard, Harley Sturgill and Oliver Rose; plus two great-great grandchildren Lorelai and Nyla Lowe.

Known for her kind heart and great fashion sense, she was truly adored by all who knew her.

Near the end of her life, she received in-home care from Lindsy Lytle and Janie Snodgrass of Paradigm Hospice. Both ladies went above and beyond requirements, providing exceptional care. Judy looked forward to their visits and they became family. She loved them both dearly.

Judy is survived by her beloved husband, and her son Leon (Laurence) Acord-Whiting of Los Angeles, brother; Ralph (Georgetta) Ryan of Kokomo. She was preceded in death by her parents, younger sister Patricia Bousom of Kokomo, daughters Judith Lynn Acord, who was still-born in 1959, and Tammy Rene (Wyatt) Acord-Brembeck of Syracuse, who passed in 2019.
