James R. Milroy, 78, of Peru Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday August 27th 2024 at Ascension Saint Vincent Hospital, in Kokomo, Indiana.
Jim was born in Kansas City, Missouri on August 24th 1946 and was the son of James A. Milroy and Helen (Fry) Milroy.
On May 28th 1967 he married his one and only true love, Joan L. (Bostic) Milroy at the Miami Baptist Church in Adamsboro, Indiana. They were married 57 memorable years.
Jim graduated from Peru High School in 1965.
Jim was known in school to be a notorious prankster along with several of his buddies. His sense of humor and adventurous spirit led to many memorable escapades that resulted in uproarious laughter.
Jim began his working career with the Square D company were he was employed from 1965 to 1970 as a production supervisor.
Jim was then employed with Norfolk Southern Railroad from 1970 through 1984 as a brakeman/conductor and then with Central Railroad in Kokomo until his retirement in 2005.
Jim was also the owner/operator of several local businesses including Cultured Marble Products, Karma Records and JCM Graphics.
Jim’s hobbies were woodworking and cooking. He loved trying new recipes and sharing the results with his family. Jim was known as being a “fixer” friends and family alike utilized his skills at being able to repair almost anything.
Jim considered himself to be a great conversationalist and could talk on a great many number of things. Much to the amusement of his wife. ((smile))
Jim was a great admirer of the classic muscle cars and at one time, had been the proud owner of a “69” Camaro and a “64” Corvette.
Jim loved spending time with his family, especially his two beloved sons Chris and Michael. Jim was always there for his two boys. He enjoyed riding along in the semi with his son Chris helping make deliveries and at other times building projects with him, some successful…some not.
With his youngest son Michael, he loved going over to visit his “Mancave” watching the Cubs play and enjoying his famous homemade pizzas.
Surviving Jim include his wife; Joan, Sons; J. Christopher (Carrie) and Michael A. Milroy.
Grandchildren, Michael D. Milroy (Caitlin), Kristen Milroy (Nick), Katrina Jones (Joseph), Macey Unger (Josh), Jeremy Lobenthal (Cheryl), Lindsay Lobenthal (Jason).
Great Grandchildren, Kendall Milroy, Elliott Milroy, Quinn Milroy, Joseph Benner, Charlie Jones, Sawyer Jones, Tyrone Lobenthal, Chace Lobenthal, Gavin Fincher, Kinley Fincher and Nathan Fincher.
Grandpa Milroy was most commonly and lovingly referred to by all the grands as “Pal”.
The family of Jim would like to express a special Thank You to the wonderful help and care provided by the hospice group Compassus.
A Celebration of Life at the home of Chris and Carrie Milroy will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 starting at 2:30 p.m.
