Donald Ray Spencer

Donald R. Spencer, 72 Peru, passed away peacefully at Kindred North Hospital, Indianapolis on Sunday, April 2, 2017.  He was born in Peru on January 14, 1945 to the late Chester and Ida Spencer. On March 12, 1965, he married Dolly Davis, she preceded him in death on October 27, 2014, just five months before celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

Donald served 6 months in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1962-63. He was an avid car lover, owning his shop for 35+ years. He also enjoyed woodworking, wrestling, car shows and spending time with his family.

Surviving Donald is one daughter; Rose (Sherman)Fisher, Peru; three sons; Donnie Spencer, Peru; Lawrence Spencer, Peru; Sammy (Deb Chase) Spencer, Peru; brother; Bill (Sue) Spencer; four sisters; Lorraine Brown, Mary Emma (Keith) Shaw, Thelma (Willie) Miles, Barb (Phil) Heeter; grandchildren; Heather (Dustin) Stanley, Mooresville, IN; Dillan Spencer, Peru; Jade Spencer, Peru; great grandchildren; Arianna Spencer and Eislee Stanley.

Preceding Donald in death are his parents, wife, Dolly, brothers, Jerry Spencer, Denzil Spencer and Lawrence Spencer.

Visitation for Donald will be held Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 10 am until 12 pm at Riverview Funeral Home, 421 West Canal St. A military rites service will follow visitation at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
