David Lee Scott Sr.

David L.(Scotty) Scott Sr., 75, of Peru, passed away into the arms of His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 13, 2018 at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne. He was born on March 15, 1943 to the late Paul Francis and Eleanor Ella (Brink) Scott.

Born in Ithaca, New York, David attended 18 different schools with the last being Kathleen High School in Kathleen, Florida. In 1960, David joined the United States Air Force where he served with honor until 1962. He worked at Square D Electric for 39 years as a truck driver, retiring in 2003. He loved Nascar, and fishing

David married the love of his life, Valentine (Tschiniak) on May 14, 1961 and she survives. They did everything together. From working at Square D, to traveling the country, very rarely did you see one without the other. Their bond was witness of true love and commitment to the very end.  In their 57 years of marriage they raised 5 children and were very active in the lives of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He adored each one of them, he was everything Pa Pa should be and so much more.

David knew no stranger. His warm and welcoming personality made a friend out of everyone who knew him. His smile was contagious, and he always went out of his way to help a neighbor in need. Having a servant’s heart, David always put the needs and wants of his family and friends above his own and he was never ashamed to share his love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He is survived by four children; Charles Scott, Florida, Tamera (Jeff) Hierholzer, Peru, David (Melody) Scott Jr., Savannah, GA; Stephanie (Jason) Buck, Peru, 2 brothers; Wayne (Harriet) Scott, Winter Haven, FL, Charles (Susan) Scott, Kannapolis, NC, 1 sister; Dolores J. Platt (Sis), Lakeland, FL and 20 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Preceding David in death is a son; Michael Scott, 2 brothers; Phillip and Paul Scott Jr. and 2 grandsons.

Family and friends will be celebrating the life of this wonderful man at a funeral service on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 10 am at First Church of Christ (2584 Business 31) with Evangelist Shane Capps and Jeff Heirholzer officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 at the church from 3-7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the family for a charity of their choice.
